Job summary

HES Facilities Management is seeking a reliable Custodian to maintain cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities in Hartford. You will perform general building maintenance and support classroom setup, ensuring daily operations run smoothly for students and staff.

The role requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, good communication, and the willingness to learn, with opportunities on 1st and 2nd shifts and comprehensive benefits including medical and life insurance, paid

Qualifications

• Able to read, write and comprehend at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to work with a diverse group of people.
• Willingness to learn.
• Criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors.
• Machine shampoo carpeting.
• Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures.
• Wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors.
• Sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trashcans outside entrances.
• Clean restrooms, replenish supplies.
• Change interior light bulbs within reach.
• Complete work requests to notify management of needed repairs.
• Remove snow and ice and apply salt if needed.
• Move, remove, and set up furniture for special functions.
