Job summary

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) seeks a working supervisory custodian to oversee cleaning and maintenance of assigned facilities. You will supervise custodians under technical and administrative supervision, ensuring safe, clean, and well-maintained school buildings and grounds.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of custodian experience, with preferred experience in a school system.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; foreign credentials must be evaluated.
• One year of custodian experience required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and directs routine building and grounds maintenance including cleaning, snow removal, and lawn mowing.
• Inspections to ensure building security and cleanliness.
• Ensure custodial staff is trained to secure building and equipment.
• Clean buildings (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, washing surfaces, vacuuming, buffing).
• Ground maintenance: mowing, watering, sweeping, weeding.
• Move and store furniture and equipment.
• Open and secure building.
