Job summary

Howard County Public School System seeks an Assistant Manager, Building Maintenance to lead daily operations, oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, doors and safety services, and coordinate across schools. You will supervise technicians, manage emergencies, and drive proactive maintenance aligned with district goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Progressive experience in facilities maintenance or related field with multiple qualifying combinations.
• Experience supervising maintenance personnel and coordinating multi-trade operations.
• Experience managing building maintenance operations in facilities.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, procurement, and operational projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily building maintenance operations across multiple trades.
• Coordinate emergency maintenance responses (HVAC, plumbing, outages, etc.).
• Conduct field inspections and audits to ensure codes and standards are met.
• Collaborate with school admins, custodial staff, contractors, and vendors to minimize disruption.
• Assist with budget development, procurement planning, and resource management.
