Sylvania seeks a dedicated Crosswalk Monitor to safeguard pedestrians at designated crosswalks in Washington. This part-time role suits someone passionate about community safety and outdoor work.

Responsibilities include monitoring crosswalks during peak times, guiding children and pedestrians, coordinating with drivers, and reporting hazards to a supervisor. Training will be provided and the position is union-represented by the PSE Union.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in safety or monitoring is a plus.
• Strong communication with children, parents and drivers.
• Ability to stay alert in varying weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
• Position represented by the PSE Union.

Responsibilities

• Monitor crosswalks during peak pedestrian traffic times, ensuring safety of pedestrians.
• Assist children and other pedestrians in safely navigating crosswalks.
• Communicate with drivers to ensure compliance with traffic laws.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents or violations to supervisor.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement and transportation officials.
• Maintain visible presence to deter reckless driving and promote safe behavior.
• Attend training sessions and meetings on safety protocols and guidelines.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
