Job summary

Ashton Ranch Middle School - Surprise, AZ is seeking a 26/27 SY Crossing Guard to help protect students by guiding and monitoring street crossings at assigned times. This position is part-time, non-benefited, with an FTE of .025 and a work calendar of 185 days.

Training on safety procedures will be provided. Starting immediately, you will report to the Principal and collaborate with staff to ensure pedestrian safety near the campus and bus stops.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
• Ability to communicate with students, staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist children in crossing streets on the way to and from school at assigned times and locations.
• Attempt to cross all pedestrians including non-students as required by law.
• Interact with children, staff and community members in a positive manner.
• Place and remove speed signs and report maintenance needs as required.
• Learn and follow state laws and procedures for school crossings.
• Protect safety of children at all times while on duty.
• Report student safety infractions and vehicle violations near school zones.
• Maintain district supplied equipment and report issues promptly.
• Establish good rapport with students, employees and community members.
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Be aware of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in all directions.
