Job summary

Madison Park Middle School in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a part-time Crossing Guard to assist students crossing at crosswalks and intersections on the way to and from school. The role requires standing outdoors for portions of the day and interacting with students, parents and staff.

You will work approximately 2 hours per day, with a starting wage of $16.13 per hour, under the supervision of the principal. The district emphasizes safety and orderly student conduct during the school commute.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to walk/stand 1–2 hours or more in outdoor environment.
• Relates to students, parents and staff in a positive manner.
• Knowledge of local traffic laws and safety practices.
• Ability to lift 30–40 lbs.
• Works with students one-on-one.

Responsibilities

• Assists students at crosswalks and intersections.
• Alerts motorists to the presence of students by displaying signs and stops traffic as necessary.
• Directs students to comply with traffic signals.
• Places and removes appropriate signs in the roadways.
• Makes good decisions involving students and motorists.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Follows teacher directions to provide a consistent discipline program for students.
• Understands and applies safety-related precautions as outlined in MSDS.
