Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Counselor Intern for Spring Semester 2027 to work within a school counseling program. The role offers exposure to individual planning, classroom guidance, and system support in alignment with the ASCA National Model.

The position targets graduate students in a counseling masters or certificate program, with collaboration among school staff, parents, and the community to promote student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master's in counseling preferred.
• Special Service Provider Intern Authorization from Colorado Department of Education.
• Graduate student status in a counseling program eligible.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate age-appropriate counseling aligned with student needs.
• Deliver counseling through classroom guidance, small groups, and individual sessions.
• Counsel individuals to address personal, social, or behavioral challenges.
• Tailor counseling to meet student and school needs.
• Align counseling with School Improvement Plan.
• Participate in professional development activities.
• Maintain community partnerships to support students and families.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
