Job summary

St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School in Memphis, TN seeks a Controller to manage day-to-day accounting, general ledger integrity, month-end close, and financial reporting. The role collaborates with the CFO to ensure accurate records and strong internal controls in a nonprofit school setting.

The ideal candidate will have a BA in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience, proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel, and the ability to prepare schedules for audits and Form 990.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Nonprofit, independent school, or educational accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and general ledger work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities and maintain general ledger integrity.
• Manage monthly and fiscal year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Assist with audits, Form 990, and regulatory filings as needed.
• Maintain fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations.
• Coordinate with A/R, A/P, HR to reflect transactions accurately.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to the CFO.
