Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a School Community Representative to serve as a liaison between the school and local communities. Under supervision of the principal, you will explain CPS programs, engage with organizations, and support attendance and parental participation.

Responsibilities include outreach to leaders, reporting, and coordinating newsletters to families. Strong communication, organization, and knowledge of CPS policies are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or GED equivalent).
• Knowledge of Chicago Public Schools rules and regulations.
• Ability to work with diverse community organizations and parents.
• Ability to prepare routine written reports and respond to inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Meet with community organizations and individuals to explain school programs.
• Consult with staff to relay teachers’ interests and concerns to the community.
• Attend community meetings, workshops, and activities related to education.
• Recruit staff and community representatives to provide information to parents.
• Prepare activity reports for the principal and communicate with parents.
