SAGE Prep in Atlanta, GA is seeking a skilled chef/cook to prepare meals for scholars according to our menus, with timely delivery and attention to portion control and nutrition.

You will work with kitchen staff, follow safety standards, help with menu input, and support school events. This role can be full-time or part-time; candidates must pass a background check and maintain health certifications.

Must love children! We are looking for a skilled chef / cook to prepare delicious meals according to our menus. This valuable candidate will prepare delightful dishes for our scholars with a timely delivery. An excellent candidate must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking.

Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important. They must love for children, be flexible, and demonstrate professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Meal Preparation and Cooking:
    • Prepare meals according to pre-approved menus, adhering to portion control and nutritional guidelines.
    • Use various cooking techniques to prepare high-quality, visually appealing, and flavorful dishes.
  2. Safety and Sanitation:
    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, food preparation areas, and dining spaces.
    • Comply with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food storage and handling practices.
  3. Inventory and Supplies:
    • Monitor kitchen inventory to ensure ingredients and supplies are stocked.
    • Inform management of any inventory shortages or equipment malfunctions.
  4. Timely Delivery:
    • Ensure meals are prepared and delivered to scholars on time, accommodating the school schedule and meal times.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other school team members to meet daily meal service goals.
    • Provide assistance and support during special events or school functions that require catering.
  6. Menu Development:
    • Offer input on menu adjustments to incorporate seasonal ingredients and maintain variety.
  7. Engagement with Scholars:
    • Foster a positive dining experience for scholars by creating a welcoming and friendly environment.
    • Engage with scholars respectfully while serving meals, promoting healthy eating habits.
  8. Flexibility and Professionalism:
    • Adapt to changes in the menu, schedule, or procedures as required by the school administration.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold the school’s values and mission.

  • Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of child nutrition and meal portioning is a plus.
