Job summary

Watertown Public Schools seeks a General Cafeteria Worker to assist in breakfast and lunch service at John Trumbull Primary School. Responsibilities include food prep, serving, POS operations, cash handling, and sanitation. The role requires standing, lifting up to 40 lbs, and teamwork in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Work schedule Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with an immediate start and an external closing date of October 13, 2026.

Qualifications

• Applicants should have food service experience, including knowledge of food production operation, proper cleaning and sanitation standards, and proper storing of food
• A spirit of cooperation and teamwork
• Willingness to operate a POS system; familiarity with Mosaic POS preferred
• Requires standing for extended periods of time
• Requires full range of body motion, including reaching, stooping, bending, and walking
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs

Responsibilities

• Preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch
• Sets and resets serving line and restock serving areas as needed; serves on student line as necessary
• Operates cash register during meal service, includes handling money and reconciling cash drawer
• Responsible for general cleanup, dish washing, and cleaning and sanitation of food preparation areas
• Attend department meetings as necessary
• Perform all other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Food Services and/or Cafeteria Manager
