Job summary

Memphis Shelby County Schools is seeking a cafeteria assistant to support the School Nutrition Supervisor in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students and staff. You will follow recipes, manage serving lines, and maintain a sanitary kitchen and dining area.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a negative TB test, and at least six months of food preparation experience; degree equivalency may apply for advanced education.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Background check required.
• TB test negative required.
• Minimum six months of quantity food preparation or related experience.
• Degree equivalency can be used to meet education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves meals for students and staff following menus and recipes.
• Monitors cooking times and temperatures per HACCP for safety.
• Sets up serving lines and maintains cleanliness of serving area.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment and storage areas.
• Assists in stocking supplies and monitors inventory.
• May serve as cashier at a point-of-sale terminal.
• Follows district and health department policies and safety standards.
• Prepares work records and may enter computer data as needed.
• Attends trainings and meetings to maintain job knowledge.
• Provides courteous service to customers and staff.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
