Job Title: School Food Service Assistant Manager

Job Summary:

The School Food Service Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of the school cafeteria, ensuring the efficient preparation and service of nutritious meals in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role assists the Food Service Manager in supervising staff, maintaining food safety standards, and providing excellent customer service to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in overseeing daily food service operations, including meal preparation, serving, and cleanup
• Support the implementation of menus that meet USDA and district nutrition guidelines
• Supervise and direct cafeteria staff in the absence of the Food Service Manager
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation
• Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste
• Operate and oversee point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling procedures
• Train and support new and existing staff on procedures and safety standards
• Maintain accurate records, including production logs, temperature logs, and reports
• Address student and staff concerns in a professional and timely manner
• Promote a positive and respectful cafeteria environment
• Provide support with catering events

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in nutrition or food service management preferred
