Job summary

Southeast Polk Community School District is seeking a Cook for Runnells Elementary to join our school nutrition team. The position runs 7:30am to 1:30pm at Runnells Elementary, with responsibilities spanning food preparation, serving, and cleaning in a school setting.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent and be capable of obtaining ServSafe certification within the first year. Experience in school food service supervision is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to obtain ServSafe certification within 6–12 months.
• Basic clerical and mathematical skills.
• Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
• Ability to work independently or lead a group.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food according to menu and recipes with attention to quality and food safety.
• Calculate needed food and supplies and place orders for the Head Cook.
• Serve meals following portion control and recipe standards.
• Perform cleaning tasks per HACCP SOPs and operate kitchen equipment.
• Follow federal/state guidelines for meal service and maintain confidentiality.
