Job summary

The Davenport Community Schools district is seeking a Food and Nutrition Services Cook at North High, working 7.5 hours per day on a 190‑day calendar.

Responsibilities include preparing foods from standardized recipes, portioning and serving, maintaining sanitation and safety standards, and assisting with production records and cost control. A high school diploma or GED is required; ServSafe certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• ServSafe Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares foods by using standardized recipes, accepted food production methods and appropriate school kitchen equipment.
• Assists in setting up service areas, portioning, and/or serving food items.
• May assist with kitchen cleanup and proper storage of leftovers.
• Safely operates school kitchen equipment. Inspects periodically; Recommends needed maintenance and repairs.
• Assists in control of food and supply costs with stock rotation, proper storage and handling, portion control and use of excess food production.
• Maintains standards of sanitation, safety, production, service, and food quality.
• Has the ability to communicate effectively and work as a team with fellow employees and supervisors.
• Assists manager and head cook in directing the work of Food Service personnel.
• Assists the manager in preparing orders for food and supplies.
• Maintains good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and the community
• Has the ability to plan workload, forecast requirements, and coordinate food production.
• Completes and maintains food production records.
• Ensures proper food presentation and quality for our customers.
• Assists with production and service of catered functions.
• May be required to cover in buildings other than the one assigned.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.
