Job summary

Wake County Public School System in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Cashier/Assistant in the Child Nutrition Services to help prepare and serve meals, salads, and a la carte items, following standardized recipes, while keeping accurate records of food preparation and receipts.

You will operate a point-of-sale system to collect monies and ensure deposits are correctly recorded, maintain cleanliness and safety in the kitchen, and collaborate with staff to support a high-quality school meals program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ServSafe Certification required or within 90 days.
• Experience in food service or cashiering preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals and salads according to standardized recipes.
• Serve as cashier and record meal transactions using the POS system.
• Maintain accurate records of money collected and deposits.
• Follow sanitation codes and keep kitchen and serving areas clean.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
