Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a part-time kitchen assistant for a 9-month term with shifts from 9:30am to 1:30pm. The role supports daily food service operations, food preparation, and cashiering at breakfast and lunch.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to support a team atmosphere.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform general work in food service, including preparation and handling.
• Assist with cooking as necessary.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, trays, and silverware by approved methods.
• Serve as POS for breakfast and lunch and verify meal reimbursement.
• Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement.
• Assist with general clean up duties.
• Maintain open communication with all people served by the Food & Nutrition Department.
• Attend short courses, meetings, and in-service training.
• Arrive on time and follow building procedures; comply with attendance expectations.
