West Willow Elementary School in the Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Food Service Assistant to support daily meal service, food preparation, and customer service for students.

Schedule runs school-year, nine months, 9:30am–1:30pm, with summers off. The role includes operating POS for breakfast and lunch, daily tally counts, and maintaining hygiene standards. $15.89 per hour, comprehensive district benefits, and regular attendance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to encourage a team atmosphere.
• Process strong communication skills and customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform general work connected with the operation of food service, including preparation and handling of food.
• Assist with cooking as necessary.
• Wash and dry pots, pans, trays, and silverware by approved methods; participate in serving quality food.
• Available to work flexible hours; serve as POS for breakfast and lunch; verify a reimbursable meal.
• Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement; assist with general cleanup duties.
• Maintain open communication with all people served by the Food & Nutrition Department.
• Attend short courses, meetings, and in-service training; arrive on time and prepared.
• Other duties as assigned.
