Job summary

Hawaiʻi State Department of Education is seeking Cafeteria Helper staff at the Kealakekua location to support school meal services. The role involves food prep, portioning, stocking, serving students and staff, and maintaining sanitary conditions across kitchen and dining areas.

Position requires basic English reading/writing, ability to follow instructions, and the ability to work with a team. Primary duties include inventory support, labeling leftovers, and attending staff trainings as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and understand oral and written English.
• Follow oral and written instructions and perform simple arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with food service staff to ensure meals meet service times.
• Review production records and secure necessary ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare simple meal items and assemble salads, sandwiches, and baked goods.
• Portion and pack items for satellite feeding; set up serving counters for meal service.
• Clean work areas and maintain sanitation of utensils, equipment, and floors.
