Job summary

Grow Academy in California seeks a part-time Café Aide to support kitchen and dining areas under the supervision of the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and Cafe Leads. The role covers food preparation, service, and general kitchen maintenance with emphasis on safety and efficiency during lunch service.

The ideal candidate has experience in food handling, strong communication with scholars, exceptional personal hygiene, and the ability to lift and move heavy trays.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow all food safety and physical safety rules.
• Strong communication skills with scholars.
• Exceptional personal hygiene.
• Ability to lift, bend, stoop and carry heavy trays.

Responsibilities

• Washes dishes; cleans and scrubs pots and pans.
• Cleans and sets up trays.
• Empts trash, recycling, and compost daily.
• Sweeps and mops floors in kitchen and dining area.
• Maintains clean serving areas and sets up cafeteria for timely service.
• Sets up tray line by arranging food.
• Assists the chef in the preparation of meals as needed.
• Peels, slices, cores, and dices vegetables and fruits by hand or using equipment.
• Pours salad dressings and condiments.
• Assists in stocking shelves, receiving and storing orders.
• Properly packs, labels, and stores leftover food.
• Follows state and federal regulations regarding food handling, serving, and cleanliness.
• Serves meals throughout lunch period.
