Job summary

Durham School Services is seeking a Training Specialist to lead the design and delivery of initial and recurrent training for transportation personnel. You will supervise driver trainers, recruit new drivers, and oversee classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction to ensure successful certification and safety.

You will administer drug/alcohol testing and develop driver safety meetings, while evaluating performance and maintaining program standards across sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 3 years as a trainer in school bus transportation industry desired.
• Supervisory experience preferred; experience supervising/training a driver workforce.
• Must complete state certification program or Durham's Training Academy for school bus driver instructor.
• Equivalent work experience as a trainer can be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Lead, design, develop and implement training programs for transportation personnel.
• Supervise driver trainers with objectives, standards, schedules and accountability.
• Recruit individuals to apply and train them to become School Bus Drivers.
• Provide classroom and behind the wheel training to ensure successful completion of training and testing; advise on upgrades.
• Provide ongoing training and performance evaluations for all Driver employees.
• Administer drug/alcohol testing programs in coordination with corporate office.
• Develop and conduct regular Driver Safety Meetings.
• Investigate incidents and respond to personal injury and vehicle accidents; prepare reports.
• Address customer service safety complaints and take corrective action.
• Maintain Safe Driver Award Program and uphold company ethics and integrity.
