Job summary

Durham School Services is seeking a Trainer to design, develop and implement initial and recurrent training for transportation personnel. You will supervise driver trainers, set objectives, and ensure accountability for performance.

You will recruit and train individuals to become School Bus Drivers, deliver classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, and evaluate ongoing driver performance. You will administer drug/alcohol testing, conduct safety meetings, investigate incidents, and prepare

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 3 years as a Trainer in school bus transportation industry desired.
• Supervisory experience preferred; specifically experience supervising/training a driver workforce.
• Must complete state certification program or Durham's Training Academy for school bus driver instructor.
• CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements required; SBDI certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, design, develop and implement training programs for transportation personnel.
• Supervise driver trainers and establish objectives, standards, and schedules.
• Proactively recruit and train individuals to become School Bus Drivers.
• Provide classroom instruction and behind the wheel training; evaluate and upgrade as needed.
• Administer drug/alcohol testing programs and conduct safety meetings.
• Investigate incidents and respond to claims; prepare reports for corporate.
• Support ongoing training and performance evaluations for Driver employees.
• Maintain and promote a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and harassment.
