Job summary

Plano ISD seeks a Bus Driver Trainer to coach drivers and assistants in safe route operation, shuttles, and field trips. You will train staff, develop classroom materials, and collect performance data to support district safety and reliability goals.

You will lead on-road training, manage certification paperwork, and coordinate with the Transportation Office to ensure compliance and high service standards.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Texas CDL Class A/B with endorsements P and S.
• Driving record that is insurable with Plano ISD's insurance carrier.
• Texas Bus Driver certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-road training.
• Collect data for performance evaluations.
• Prepare classroom materials and conduct classroom training (to include bus certification exams).
• Assist with in-service planning and activities.
• Write required reports, training forms and manuals.
• Ensure proper completion of paperwork for certification of drivers, including physical results and road tests; perform other duties as assigned.
• Implement proper use of emergency procedures.
• Maintain positive working relationships with Plano ISD staff and community.
• Attend training and possibly overnight travel or weekends.
• Drive buses for routes, shuttles and field trips; serve as backup driver when needed.
