Job summary

Pittsburgh Public Schools is seeking a Transportation Safety and Training Agent to ensure carriers meet contractual and state requirements. The role reports to the Director of Transportation and supports district-wide bus safety, driver credential verification, and incident reporting.

Responsibilities include conducting in-person inspections, maintaining driver records, and developing training sessions for carrier staff and school personnel, with regular collaboration with the PPS Law Department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
• Experience analyzing data and making informed decisions.
• Experience working with carriers and youth safety.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel; familiarity with transportation software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and verify insurance.
• Monitor driver credentials and training requirements; rectify discrepancies.
• Review criminal history checks and driver licenses for compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain up-to-date driver records and ensure current information across carriers.
• Verify bus routes timing and vehicle assignments; schedule adherence.
• Develop and deliver transportation safety trainings and meetings.
• Investigate safety incidents and communicate corrective actions to the Director of Transportation.
