Blount County Board of Education is seeking a Routing Specialist to support the efficient transportation of students. The role involves assisting with bus routing, driver scheduling, substitute driver coordination, and communication with schools, parents/guardians, and transportation staff.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; related transportation experience preferred.
• Proficient with spreadsheets and databases.
• Able to learn and operate multiple software applications and transportation systems.
• Strong organizational and deadline-management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication via phone and email.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development, scheduling, and routing of school buses using transportation software.
• Coordinate and schedule substitute bus drivers for routes.
• Communicate training progress and updates to supervisors and applicants.
• Respond to schools, parents/guardians, and staff about routes, stops, schedules, and times.
• Obtain school bus driver certification within six months and drive routes as needed.
• Maintain accurate records for routes, drivers, training, and operations.
• Operate multiple computer software systems and databases as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Engage in ongoing training, ethics, and professional development.
