Manassas Park City Schools is seeking a School Bus Driver to transport students on scheduled routes and field trips, ensuring safety and compliance with district policies.

The role requires a Virginia CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements, a DOT physical, and a strong safety mindset. It operates on a split shift schedule (approximately 6:00 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) during the school year and includes benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of driving experience with a valid driver’s license.
• Virginia CDL with school bus and passenger endorsement required.
• Must pass DOT physical and drug/alcohol testing.
• Background check, CPR, and physical requirements required.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
• English reading/writing proficiency; Spanish a plus.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist students.
• Remain calm in emergencies; show patience and professionalism.
• Demonstrate teamwork and good relations with staff and students.
• Willing to work split shifts (approx. 6:00–8:45 a.m. and 1:15–4:30 p.m.).

Responsibilities

• Transports passengers on school routes and field trips safely and on time.
• Monitors students to maintain safety and policy adherence.
• Performs pre/post-trip inspections and ensures safe vehicle operation.
• Advises students on appropriate behavior for safety and compliance.
• Assesses incidents and emergencies and responds appropriately.
• Assists students with loading/unloading, including mobility devices.
• Attends training and meetings to maintain bus driver certification.
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills and safety procedures.
• Responds to inquiries from students, parents, and staff.
• Secures students using seats, restraints, and safety equipment.
• Assists children with disabilities during transport.
• Cleans and maintains bus interior and exterior.
• Lifts students/equipment and assists during loading.
• Maintains defensive driving and road-law knowledge.
• Maintains student safety and behavior records; communicates with principals.
• Supports other drivers and covers routes as needed.
• Performs walk-around inspections before first run.
• Reports bus issues to Fleet Maintenance and Transportation leadership.
