Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools is seeking a School Bus Driver to transport students on scheduled routes and field trips, maintaining safety and discipline on board. Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections, supervising students, and communicating with the Director of Transportation.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (preferred), at least five years of driving experience with a Virginia CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements, and must pass DOT and TB screenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of driving experience with a valid driver’s license.
• Virginia CDL with school bus and passenger endorsement.
• DOT physical, drug and alcohol testing, and TB screening required.
• DMV record with plus points; CPR certification and physical requirements.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and railroad-crossing procedures.
• English literacy; Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist students on/off the bus.
• Remain calm in emergencies; patient and professional.
• Split shifts approximately 6:00 a.m.–8:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.–4:30 p.m.
• Establish and maintain relationships with students, parents, staff.

Responsibilities

• Transports passengers over scheduled routes to/from school and field trips.
• Monitors students to maintain safety and compliance with district policies.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections for safe operation.
• Advises students on appropriate behavior to ensure safety.
• Assesses incidents and resolves emergencies or reports for resolution.
• Assists students with loading/unloading, including mobility devices.
• Attends trainings and safety meetings to maintain certification requirements.
• Conducts emergency evacuation drills as required.
