Job summary

Manassas Park City Schools seeks a School Bus Attendant to support the safe transportation of students, assisting with supervision, behavior, and student needs while on the bus.

The role helps ensure a safe, orderly environment so the driver can operate the vehicle safely. Requires a high school diploma and First Aid/CPR, English fluency; Spanish is a plus. Lifting up to 50 lbs and shifts 6:00 a.m.–8:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.–4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification prior to employment.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English; Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
• Ability to perform moderate lifting of 50 lbs, operate a wheelchair lift, and assist students on and off the bus as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Bus Driver in maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and appropriate appearance of the bus interior.
• Supports and participates in emergency evacuation drills in compliance with mandated safety requirements.
• Assists students with personal and safety needs during transport and while loading and unloading, including emergency situations.
• Communicates with parents, teachers, bus drivers, and administrators regarding student behavior, activities, or special transportation arrangements.
• Implements components of student behavior plans as directed, particularly for students receiving special education services.
• Reinforces bus safety rules and expectations while providing positive discipline and guidance.
• Operates wheelchair lifts and safely secures or repositions students and equipment as necessary.
