Job summary

North-America-Central-School-Bus is seeking a dedicated Bus Assistant to help the driver operate routes safely and manage students according to school guidelines.

You will follow route sheets or electronic routing devices, assist with loading and unloading, participate in pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and support wheelchair lift operations. You’ll also communicate with school staff, parents, and students, attend safety meetings, and help keep the bus clean and orderly at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work early mornings.
• Professional and respectful attitude toward others.
• Dress in a business-appropriate manner and follow safety guidelines.
• Ability to use internet and office equipment per policy.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device.
• Assist in student management and communicate behavior problems with the driver.
• Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including child checks and wheelchair lifts.
• Assist students in loading and unloading, including wheelchair lift.
• Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents and students.
• Attend safety and training meetings.
• Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including exiting via the emergency door.
• Clean the inside of the bus including sweeping, dusting and cleaning windows.
• Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
