Job summary

North-America-Central-School-Bus is seeking a School Bus Assistant to support the driver in safe route operation and student management. The role involves assisting with loading/unloading, aiding with wheelchairs, and communicating with school staff, parents, and students.

Applicants should be capable of following route sheets or electronic routing devices, and participate in pre/post-trip inspections, safety meetings, and emergency evacuations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the driver in the safe operation of the route and manage students as defined/identified by school.
• Learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device.
• Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including child checks, CSRS and wheelchair lifts.
• Assist students in loading and unloading, including wheelchair lift.
• Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents and students.
• Attend safety and training meetings.
• Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus.
• Clean the insides of the bus including sweeping, dusting and cleaning windows.
• Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
