Job summary

Dean Transportation is seeking a School Bus Fleet Mechanic to support Cadillac Area Public Schools. You will diagnose and repair buses, coaches, and related equipment to keep our fleet safe and road-ready.

The role requires knowledge of diesel/automotive systems, ASE or state licenses, and the ability to work with maintenance teams, drivers, and operations staff. On-site mechanical duties and safety inspections are required.

Qualifications

• Vehicle maintenance experience required.
• Technical School degree in diesel/automotive preferred but not required, with 3–5 years experience.
• Must hold or obtain ASE or Michigan licenses in Heavy Duty Brakes, Suspension/Steering, Diesel Engines, Drive Train, Electrical.

Responsibilities

• Repair as per OEM and state/federal regs; diagnose root causes and perform corrective maintenance.
• Respond to service calls and perform on-site repairs when possible.
• Install accessories such as two-way radios, cameras and GPS systems as needed.
• Review service bulletins and diagnostic links; use diagnostic software for engines and braking systems.
• Maintain parts inventory and communicate maintenance needs with staff.
