Job summary

Dean Transportation is seeking a School Bus Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair buses, motor coaches, and other fleet vehicles for Reeths-Puffer Schools. Responsibilities include diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance per OEM specs and regulatory requirements.

The role requires 3–5 years of vehicle maintenance experience or a technical degree, with ASE licenses desirable. Experience with diesel engines, brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Vehicle maintenance experience required; diesel/bus/truck maintenance preferred.
• 3–5 years of vehicle maintenance experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Must hold or be able to obtain (once hired) ASE licenses in Heavy Duty brakes, suspension/steering, diesel engines, and drive train; able to obtain Michigan state licenses.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs per OEM recommendations and state/federal regulations; inspects equipment for defects and completes repairs.
• Uses preventive maintenance practices to service diesel and gas engines, braking, suspension, driveline, electrical, and body systems.
• Responds to service calls and conducts on-site repairs when possible.
• May install accessories such as radios, cameras, and GPS systems.
• Maintains safety inspections and participates in state vehicle inspections.
