Job summary

Dean Transportation is seeking a skilled School Bus Fleet Technician to keep Calhoun ISD, Mar Lee School District, and Olivet Community School buses road-ready. You will diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines, brakes, suspension, electrical and transmission systems.

Ideal candidates have vehicle maintenance experience, ASE or Michigan licenses, pass drug/alcohol screening, and meet district standards. This on-site role requires physical stamina and the ability to work with drivers and

Qualifications

Vehicle maintenance experience required; diesel bus/truck or automotive maintenance preferred.
Technical School degree in diesel/automotive preferred but not required, with 3 to 5 years of vehicle maintenance experience.
Must hold or be able to obtain current Mechanic Licenses through ASE or the State of Michigan in Heavy Duty Brakes, Suspension/Steering, Diesel Engines, Drive Train, Electrical.
May also be required to be certified in Computer Electronic Engine and Transmission Diagnostics.

Responsibilities

Performs repairs as needed following OEM and state/federal regulations; diagnoses root causes and applies correct repairs.
Inspects equipment for defects and uses preventative maintenance practices for diesel/gas engines and systems.
Answers service calls and performs on-site repairs when possible.
May install accessories like two-way radios, cameras and GPS systems.
Reviews technical bulletins and uses diagnostic software for engines and braking systems.
Parts procurement, inventory control, and communication with drivers/ops staff.
