Job summary

The Jefferson County Board of Education in Birmingham, AL seeks a full-time Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students on designated routes. You will perform pre-trip inspections, maintain order on the bus, and follow established safety procedures daily.

Qualifications include a valid Alabama bus driver license with CDL P/S endorsement, ALDOT Health Card, a clean driving record, ability to pass a drug test, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and commercial driver's license (CDL) with P/S endorsement.
• Maintain a current Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card as required by state law.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under state act and to maintain insurability under school system requirements.
• Ability to pass drug test.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Ability to operate a school vehicle on a defined route with a schedule.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to exert up to 50 pounds of force.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to all traffic laws and driving safety rules.
• Prepares and submits monthly school bus reports.
• Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Maintains a clean bus and discipline among students.
• Reports accidents and mechanical issues as required.
• Transports students on field trips and extracurricular events as assigned.
• Attends scheduled trainings.
• Maintains confidentiality of school/workplace matters.
