Qualifications

• Valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and CDL with P/S endorsement.
• Current Alabama School Bus Physical/ALDOT Health Card.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Possess and maintain a clean motor vehicle record and insurability.
• Pass drug test as required by law.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Operate school vehicle on assigned route to defined schedule.
• Lift objects up to 50 pounds.
• Exert up to 50 pounds of force.
• Physically capable of pre-trip/post-trip inspections and bus evacuations.
• Be punctual and maintain regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to traffic laws and driving safety rules.
• Performs daily pre-trip inspection and submits reports.
• Performs post-trip inspection and maintains a clean bus.
• Maintains discipline and safety on the bus.
• Reports discipline issues to proper authority.
• Reports accidents immediately and follows procedures.
• Operates bus heating/cooling as needed for passenger comfort.
• Notifies supervisor of mechanical issues or delays.
• Keeps communications equipment in good order.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with students, parents, staff.
