Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Alabama bus driver license (ABL) and CDL with P/S endorsement.
• Maintain current Alabama School Bus Physical or ALDOT Health Card.
• Meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Possess and maintain a clean driving record and insurability.
• Ability to pass required drug tests.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication.
• Operate a school vehicle on assigned route per schedule, including early morning/dusk driving.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and perform pre/post-trip inspections.
• Punctuality and regular attendance; comply with Board policies.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to traffic laws and driving safety rules.
• Pre-trip and post-trip inspections; submit forms.
• Maintain a clean bus and safe environment for students.
• Maintain discipline and report student behavior issues as needed.
• Report accidents to transportation office promptly and follow procedures.
• Report mechanical issues to the Transportation Department.
• Attend scheduled trainings and comply with safety standards.
• Report absences and adhere to board policies.
