Job summary

Summit School Services LLC seeks a part-time Driver Evaluator to document driver competency and identify developmental needs, primarily driving home-to-school routes while contributing to the safety program. The role emphasizes safety, training, and compliance with regulations across teams.

Candidates should have a CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older per state law.
• High school diploma or equivalent; teaching or transportation education a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years with CDL.
• Valid state licenses and certifications to operate company vehicles.
• Physical/medical requirements; random substance abuse screening.
• No MVR violations in 3 years.
• Compliance with all driver requirements.
• Meet driver training/evaluator/coaching standards.
• Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; basic math.
• Patience and ability to mentor across skill levels.
• Detailed records and time management.
• DOT medical certification and school bus endorsements.
• MS Office skills.
• Drive experience with Summit (2-3 years, accident-free).

Responsibilities

• Drive school bus on home-to-school routes, field trips, or charters.
• Participate in onsite recruitment, screening, interviews, and onboarding.
• Conduct and document driver evaluations, classroom and behind‑the‑wheel training.
• Maintain driver files per company standards.
• Support safety culture through monthly meetings.
• Administer customer safety programs and company safety programs.
• Assess driving abilities and provide feedback.
• May retrain drivers as needed.
• Maintain driver evaluation standards.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Stay updated on driving laws and best practices.
• Demonstrate integrity and report concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.
