Job summary

RSU10 Hartford-Sumner Elementary School in Sumner, Maine seeks a Bus Driver/Custodian to transport students and assist with building cleanliness and safety. The role combines driving routes with pre/post-trip checks and routine cleaning.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a Class B school bus license endorsement, and the ability to pass Maine CHRC fingerprinting/background checks. Prior custodial or driving experience is preferred; must follow DOT rules and MSDS safety

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Driving assigned bus route, including pre-trip/post-trip checks and fueling per policy.
• Securing the building area, ensuring life safety items are clear and functional.
• Report problems to the Head Custodian promptly.
• Vacuuming, mopping, and general cleaning of assigned areas.
• Drive extra, co-curricular and field trips as needed.
• Cover building assignments for events outside school hours.
