Job summary

ServingSchools seeks a Custodian / Bus Driver at Skowhegan Area Middle School to maintain a clean, safe learning environment and to operate school buses in compliance with regulations.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift 50 pounds, and a valid CDL appropriate to the equipment. You will report to the Building Administrator and Transportation Director, with responsibilities that include daily cleaning, safety checks, and directing students on buses.

Qualifications

• Must pass physical, eye exam, hearing test, etc.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and assist an injured student off the bus in an emergency.
• Must hold and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license for the equipment driven.
• Must comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record with at least 3 years of safe driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Keep building and premises neat and clean, and maintain sidewalks, driveways and play areas.
• Open and close the building; ensure doors/windows are secured and lights are off when appropriate.
• Raise and lower the United States flag as required.
• Daily cleaning and disinfection of restrooms, floors, and fixtures; document monthly electrical safety checks.
• Wash windows inside and out; maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Move furniture or equipment as needed and follow safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain bus cleanliness and operate in accordance with bus rules; report incidents and accidents.
• Provide leadership and enforce discipline while students are on and off buses.
