Job summary

Maureen Joy Charter School in Durham, NC, seeks a part-time School Bus Driver for the 2026-27 school year. Shifts run 6:30am–8:30am and 3:00pm–5:30pm with a starting rate of $21.37/hour and a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements is required; S Endorsement strongly preferred. Responsibilities include transporting students and staff on established routes, daily vehicle checks, and maintaining safety on board.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Test brakes, tires, and other components daily; submit vehicle maintenance reports.
• Maintain a safe environment and respond to emergencies as needed.

Maureen Joy Charter School is seeking a School Bus Driver for the 2026-27 school year.

This position is part time.

WorkHours:

Monday - Friday split shift, Approximate work hours are 6:30am - 8:30 am and 3:00 pm - 5:30pm.

Rate of Pay:

beginning salary at $21.37 /hour (based on experience)

$1,000 Sign-On Bonus

Commercial Driver License (CDL):

A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required to operate a school bus.

S Endorsement strongly preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

School bus drivers pick-up and drop-off students via established routes to and from school. They may also transport students and faculty for field trips, sporting events, summer camps, and other school-related activities. School bus drivers must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers. They must verify that their vehicles are operating properly each day by testing brakes, tires and other components by submitting a daily vehicle maintenance report. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies.
