Job summary

Peabody Public Schools Transportation in Peabody, MA is seeking a School Bus Driver for the 2026-2027 school year. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, with full benefits and pension. Starting date is immediate, with a salary of $29.36 per hour.

Experience with a bus company and valid licenses are required. The driver will inspect vehicles, transport special needs students, follow routes, assist with boarding and disembarking, and participate in safety drills.

Qualifications

• Valid DPU School Bus Operator’s license.
• Valid CDL License with passenger endorsement.
• At least two years experience with bus company.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
• Willingness to receive CPR training.
• Bilingualism is a highly desired skill for a position, but not a requirement

Responsibilities

• Inspects assigned vehicle before and after use.
• Provides transportation for special needs students to and from schools.
• Observes all safety and traffic regulations regarding proper operation of school buses.
• Follows prescribed routing with regard to uniform pickup and discharge of students.
• Assists in the orderly boarding and discharge of students assigned to the vehicle.
• Assists students on the vehicle during emergency situations or during bus evacuation drills.
• Provides the Transportation Supervisor with information regarding the condition of the vehicle or student problems to ensure the safety of all riders.
• Reports all accidents to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Maintains the cleanliness of assigned vehicle.
• Submits to random alcohol and drug testing as required by law.
• Assumes other such responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Transportation Supervisor.
• Bilingualism is a highly desired skill for a position, but not a requirement
