Job summary

The Stockton Unified School District is seeking a School Bus Driver Specialist to assist in planning, scheduling, and dispatching bus runs to transport pupils safely and efficiently. You may substitute as a school bus driver when needed and will keep required transportation records.

Responsibilities include covering daily routes, assigning substitutes, organizing field trips, and training site personnel for bus evacuation drills. Must meet California licensing and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rules and regulations governing school bus operation.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instruction.
• Experience and education: high school diploma; two years as a school bus driver.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all daily bus routes are covered.
• Assign substitute drivers and routes as needed.
• Book and estimate cost for field trips.
• Assign drivers to field trips.
• Maintain accurate transportation records.
• Assist in providing training for bus evacuation drills at school sites.
• Assist in planning fall bus routes for student population changes.
• May substitute as a driver when needed.
• Perform check-out of bus safety equipment.
• Act as liaison between the Department of Transportation and school sites.
