Job summary

Hayward Unified School District is seeking substitute school bus drivers to operate designated routes following time schedules and safety regulations. You will transport students to and from school, events, and field trips while enforcing conduct rules and maintaining vehicle safety.

Responsibilities include daily vehicle inspections, report of mechanical issues, assisting with loading handicapped students, and maintaining related records.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and all licenses and other requirements listed below.
• Possession of a valid California School Bus Driver Certificate (Type 1).
• Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement and a valid Medical Card, CPR and First Aid certificates.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus over designated routes according to time schedules and safety regulations.
• Transport students to and from school, events, and field trips, observing conduct rules and safety practices.
• Maintain bus cleanliness and report mechanical defects; assist with loading/unloading of handicapped students as needed.
• Keep records of miles driven, students transported, incidents and accidents; complete required reports.
