Job summary

First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician for our Willow Springs shop to keep school buses safe and reliable. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain buses and complete work orders in a Monday–Friday day shift from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of diesel/auto maintenance experience or equivalent technical training.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment; company training provided.
• Possession of a mechanic's tool set to complete duties.
• Willingness to pursue ASE certification; training and bonuses provided.
• Strong computer skills and DOT safety testing noted.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for passengers.
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmissions, and other repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
