Job summary

First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician to join our Wichita shop. This full-time day shift (12:30pm–9:00pm) offers a stable schedule, competitive hourly pay, and company-paid training.

You’ll help maintain and repair school buses, ensuring safety and reliability for students and families in our community. Eligible candidates have 1+ years in diesel or automotive maintenance, a valid driver's license, and a willingness to obtain CDL Class B.

Qualifications

• At least 1+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• Ability to diagnose and solve vehicle issues.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days; company-paid training provided.
• Possession of a mechanic’s tool set.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program; training and bonuses provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform vehicle maintenance including brakes, tune-ups, suspensions, drivetrains and transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections; complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
