Monitor/Aide Responsibilities:

• Monitor the welfare of passengers while in route, knowing the route and remaining alert
• Communicate behavior problems and stop conditions with the driver
• Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus
• Assist students during loading and unloading
• Coordinate with school personnel, students, and parents
• Attend safety and training meetings
• Conduct emergency evacuations, including use of emergency exits
• Open and close service doors and move on steps multiple times daily
• Clean the inside of the bus
• Assist the driver in safely directing the vehicle backwards when necessary

Required Experience and Skills:

• Good verbal communication skills
• NYS Form of ID required
• Attention to detail
• Early morning availability
• Judgment and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage high stress levels
