Job summary

Beacon Mobility is seeking a School Bus Aide to assist students with boarding and disembarking, and to collaborate with the bus driver on passenger management. You will communicate with parents, guardians, and school officials, and observe and report incidents along the route.

The role includes assisting in releasing students to approved individuals, with potential cross-frontage duties and backing up the bus as needed. Paid training and a $17.00/hour base pay are provided.

Qualifications

• New Hire Packet requires NYS and Federal documents and background check for working with children and people with developmental disabilities.
• Pre-employment Physical and Drug/Alcohol Test conducted by an outside entity.
• Initial six-hour pre-service training, paid.
• Ability to perform emergency procedures as trained.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in safely boarding and disembarking from the school bus.
• Assist in passenger management and report incidents to the driver.
• Communicate with parents/guardians and school officials.
• Assist in releasing students to approved individuals.
• May be required to cross students from one side of the road to the other.
• Assist driver in backing-up procedures as needed.
• Act in case of an emergency according to training.
