Job summary

Billings Public Schools is seeking a Mental Health Specialist I (SPED) to provide behavioral and emotional support within a 182 day/9-month school calendar. The position is .875 FTE, 7 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with a salary of $21.36 per hour and benefits including vacation and sick days, fully paid insurance, and TRS retirement.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Service or related certification (RBT) and experience with student behaviors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Service field or experience with certification (Registered Behavior Technician)
• Experience with student behaviors

Responsibilities

• Provides direct behavioral and emotional support to students
• Provides consultation to school personnel (teachers and paraprofessionals)
• Observes in the classroom
• Assists in crisis situations
• Collects quantifiable data through observation and provides written reports
• Assists in development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans
• Provides staff training in social, emotional, and behavioral interventions when appropriate
• Monitors student progress with taught interventions and skills
• Communicates with school personnel
