Job summary

Provident Behavioral Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Intervention Specialist to provide direct, on-site support to youth in partner school districts. The role involves conducting assessments, non-therapeutic counseling, case management, and psychoeducational presentations to students, families, and school staff.

The BHIS will collaborate with teachers and administrators, ensure timely documentation in the EHR, and participate in mandated reporting when needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a helping field is required (psychology, counseling, social work or related).
  • 1 year experience working with youth or students in a case management, supportive, or clinical role.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain consent forms from parents/guardians to allow youth to participate in direct services from BHIS staff.
  • Conduct Behavioral Health Screening Assessments and provide non-therapeutic counseling services based on findings in assessment.
  • Provide case management to identify and connect clients with additional resources that support the youth’s behavioral health, including linking access to Provident’s Counseling and Psychiatric Services as well as referrals to external providers when additional or specialized support is needed.
  • Provide psychoeducational presentations to youth in schools to teach strategies for supporting wellbeing and healthy coping.
  • Deliver community outreach and awareness presentations for youth, parents, and school staff to increase understanding of behavioral health issues, promote access to care, and connect participants with Provident’s menu of services.
  • Develop and foster strong, positive relationships with teachers, counselors, principals, and other school staff to identify students who could benefit from behavioral health interventions and connect them with care.
  • Provide individual and group intervention, including but not limited to behavioral health screening assessments, psychoeducation, nontherapeutic counseling, and case management services to students.
  • Achieve target number of services provided to the school each month.
  • Screen target number of youth each school semester.
  • Provide target number of psychoeducational classroom presentations per month.
  • Assess and address students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to develop and implement support plans for youth at the school.
  • Monitor and track students' progress via outcome tools and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Document all services provided to youth and the school in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in a timely manner and consistent with Provident’s policies and guidelines.
  • Complete mandated reporting to Children’s Division for suspected abuse or neglect of youth, if encountered during interactions with youth in the school
