Job summary

Billings Public Schools is seeking a Mental Health Specialist I (SPED) to provide behavioral and emotional support to students. This BCEA support staff position operates on a 182 day/9-month calendar, at .875 FTE, 7 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Salary is $21.36 per hour. Primary duties include direct behavioral support, consultation with teachers, classroom observation, crisis assistance, data collection, and development of behavioral intervention plans with staff training as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Service field or related experience with certification (RBT).
• Experience with student behaviors and supportive interventions in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct behavioral and emotional support to students.
• Consult with teachers and paraprofessionals.
• Observe in the classroom.
• Assist in crisis situations.
• Collect quantifiable data and write reports.
• Assist in developing and implementing behavioral intervention plans.
• Provide staff training on social, emotional, and behavioral interventions when appropriate.
• Monitor progress of interventions and skills.
• Communicate clearly with school personnel.
